Development cooperation - Polish aid
Polish development cooperation and its definition results from the Development Cooperation Act of 16 September 2011, as amended. It is understood as activities undertaken by government administration bodies to assist developing countries. It involves development assistance, humanitarian aid and support for 'global education'.
The basis for action is the current strategic document Solidarity for Development, Multiannual Development Cooperation Programme 2021 - 2030, which defines, inter alia, the geographical and thematic priorities for Polish aid. It has clear references to the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and its goals (Sustainable Development GoalsSDGs). The Programme identifies the following priorities: peace, justice and strong institutions, equal opportunities, health, climate and natural resources.
The main destinations for Polish aid are currently ten, i.e. four countries in the Eastern Partnership (Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, and Ukraine) and six countries in Africa, Asia, and the Middle East (Ethiopia, Kenya, Lebanon, Palestine, Senegal, Tanzania). Since 2011, Statistics Poland has been implementing development cooperation projects in the field of statistics for partner countries.
